Fontana: A Playful Display Font for Creative Makers

Fontana on Candle Labels and Handmade Packaging

Fontana is a cute and simple display font that feels like a warm hug in lettering form. When I first started designing labels for my handmade candles, I needed something that would catch the eye without being too overwhelming. Fontana’s soft curves and gentle strokes made it perfect for labeling my lavender-scented candles. It felt just right—playful enough to appeal to younger audiences but elegant enough to fit into a boutique-style packaging design.

I used it on small, circular stickers that I applied to each candle jar. The font paired beautifully with minimalist illustrations of flowers and leaves, creating a cohesive look that made my products feel more personal and handcrafted.

Fontana for Birthday Invitations and Seasonal Greeting Cards

When I designed a set of birthday invitations for a client, I knew I wanted something that felt both whimsical and professional. Fontana was an instant favorite. Its lovely and childish charm gave the invitations a sense of joy, while its clean lines ensured readability even on smaller sizes.

I paired it with a simple sans serif font for the event details, which kept the overall design from feeling cluttered. Using Fontana for the main title created a focal point that drew attention and made the invitations feel more like a special occasion than just a paper card.

Testing Fontana on Sticker Sheets and Digital Mockups

Before finalizing any designs, I always test fonts on sticker sheets and digital mockups to see how they translate in different formats. Fontana worked incredibly well on small stickers—its characters didn’t get lost or distorted when printed at tiny sizes. I also used it in digital mockups for printable wall art, where it added a touch of character to quotes and phrases.

For digital downloads, I made sure to check the font file formats and included styles. Fontana comes with a range of alternates and ligatures that helped elevate the design without complicating the layout. It’s easy to use, especially for those who aren’t typography experts.

Fontana in Planner Pages and Printable Wall Art

One of my favorite uses for Fontana has been in planner pages. Whether it's for weekly schedules, habit trackers, or motivational quotes, the font adds a sense of warmth and approachability. I love using it for headers and section titles because it gives the page a friendly, inviting vibe.

For printable wall art, I combined Fontana with watercolor-style backgrounds. The contrast between the delicate font and the organic textures made the pieces feel more artistic and less commercial. It’s a great way to add personality to any room or space.

Fontana on Tote Bags and Merchandise Tags

I recently designed custom tote bags for a local boutique, and Fontana was the perfect choice for the branding text. It looked great across the fabric, and the font’s simplicity allowed the rest of the design to shine. I also used it for merchandise tags—small, hand-stitched tags that came with each item.

The font’s childlike charm gave the tags a sense of playfulness, which matched the boutique’s overall aesthetic. It also helped reinforce brand consistency, as the same font appeared on all product packaging and promotional materials.

Choosing Fontana for Signs and Farmhouse Decor

Farmhouse signs are all about warmth and nostalgia, and Fontana fits right in. I used it on a set of wooden signs that I sold online, each one featuring a different quote or phrase. The font’s soft edges and rounded letters gave the signs a rustic, homey feel that appealed to customers looking for cozy decor.

When pairing Fontana with other fonts, I found that a clean sans serif font worked best for body text. This combination kept the sign readable while still maintaining a charming visual balance.

Fontana for Wedding Invitations and Welcome Boards

Wedding invitations need to be both beautiful and functional, and Fontana delivered on both counts. I used it for the main title of a set of invitations I designed, and the result was stunning. The font’s childish charm gave the invitations a fresh, modern twist that stood out from traditional script fonts.

For wedding welcome boards, I layered Fontana with floral accents and soft pastel colors. The font’s gentle curves complemented the romantic theme perfectly, making the board feel both elegant and heartfelt.

Using Fontana for Boutique Tags and Product Packaging

Boutique tags are often the first thing a customer sees, so it’s important they make a good impression. Fontana was ideal for this purpose. I used it on tags for handmade soap and bath bombs, and the font’s playful yet sophisticated look helped create a memorable brand identity.

When designing product packaging, I made sure to consider the font’s scalability. Fontana scaled well across different sizes, from small tags to large boxes, ensuring consistency throughout the entire product line.
